Gold Leaf Fall Miniature Originals

This is one of my favorite sets of Miniature Originals (Minis). These elegant art pieces are such a fall vibe and make a great fall-themed gift. I made this set of Minis to send off to a craft fair for sale, but I am offering fall theme Minis like these in my shop for anyone who'd like to order an original for gifting.

Each of these four originals is handcrafted, using high quality hand cut and folded gifting card base. All ink was hand-applied and sealed to preserve its longevity. Die cuts were hand-glued to the card. Each Mini comes with a coordinating envelope for gifting.

Creation Process:

  1. I set up my workstation using a vinyl tablecloth to protect furniture. I made sure all my possible supply needs were within easy reach, since with alcohol ink you sometimes need to work quickly to achieve your desired look. The supplies I always have at hand when working with alcohol ink are listed below.

  2. For each card, I started by cutting sheets of 5x7 Ranger Yupo Paper in half.

  3. To apply the alcohol ink, I used two different techniques.

    1. I used the same "smooshing" technique described in this set,

    2. I used felt pads for layering down a striped look. To do this, just place horizontal straight lines of 3 or 4 (max) alcohol inks or pearls, one right under the other, and place a vertical line of blending solution straight down the middle of those. Then apply to the yupo paper in whatever way suits you!

  4. Once the alcohol ink is dry (I let it sit overnight, but a couple hours would probably do). I sprayed each page with Krylon Kamar Varnish. I would also let these sit for a day. You can handle them after a couple hours but I prefer to play it safe when adhering die cuts to these pages.

  5. I cut the gold mirrored die cuts during a previous project with my Silhouette Cameo. These were leftovers and I thought they went perfectly with these bold backgrounds!

  6. I used my Spellbinders machine to cut out the "Hello" sentiment from a page of yellow shimmer paper, from this paper pad.

  7. I adhered each die cut, as well as the inked art base, to the gifting card base using my favorite glue, Tombow Mono Multi.

I am taking orders for Minis in a similar style to these in my shop.
