Glam Gold and Black Birthday Card

Gold and glittery!

This card was a challenge to make, although it does not seem so at first glance. I love doing cards with dark backgrounds because it means any other elements you add are really going to stand out. Since the black is such a bold choice, it also means you can keep everything else very simple.

However, this was my first time using a sentiment that wasn't all connected by an offset. You can see the letters are still not perfectly straight. At the time, I didn't have a t-square to help with lining things up either! I tried to use Press N Seal, but that did not help me. I also tried Washi tape, but couldn't make that work either. In the end, I just eyeballed the placements. If I were making this card for a client, I would use the t-square that I have purchased since then.

The background is a piece of 5x5 regular black cardstock from Recollections. I used the Heart Garland background stamp from Simon Says Stamp with Versamark and black embossing powder. I LOVE the black on black look. The sentiment and backing panel came from a paper pack of glitter cardstock from Recollections and were cut using the Silhouette Cameo 4.
