Don't Panic!
Don't Panic!
Some of you may not be familiar with the phrase "Don't Panic" as it is meant in this card. The phrase, as well as the towel reference, comes from a book called Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which is well-loved among nerds and geeks everywhere. On my friend's 42nd birthday (also a special number in Hitchhiker's), I decided to experiment with a Hitchhiker's themed birthday card.
The technique I used for this card was to crush some of the dark purple Gelato (a water soluble crayon) into some clear Gesso and mix it up like paint. I applied the "paint" to my gel press and pressed the Hero Arts Star Bright Star Light background stamp onto the gel press, picking up the "paint" and then pressing it onto a piece of heavyweight cardstock. This created the galactic look. The color is really very red purple like the cover photo, but I included the closeup photo of the background which was taken in very cool light.
It's a messy, textured background, but I think it's perfect for the card theme. I sprayed a Krylon sealant on it to be safe. The towels are colored with Azure alcohol markers.
